About Jonny
Jonny Avery is a Wellington-based music producer, mixer, and vocalist with a Master of Music in Ethnomusicology from Victoria University of Wellington, a background that shapes how he approaches every project: less about chasing a trend, more about understanding what makes a sound work.
He co-produced Kamakshi: In the Womb of the Goddess, an album that received Grammy consideration, and his work has placed music on ESPN, OWN, and Les Mills International. He's also Hrishi's longest-running collaborator, working as full-time producer across recording, creative direction, and touring, including two US tours as musical director.
Jonny works primarily across pop, alternative, and singer-songwriter production, with experience in indie rock, soul, and R&B. Every project starts with a conversation about what the song needs to feel like, then moves through production and mixing in Logic Pro with regular check-ins to keep it true to the artist's vision.
He takes on a select number of projects at a time, so each one gets the attention it deserves.
