WHO'S INVOLVED?

JONNY AVERY

Jonny Avery is a Wellington-based music producer, mixer, and vocalist with a Master of Music in Ethnomusicology from Victoria University of Wellington. He co-produced Kamakshi: In the Womb of the Goddess, an album that received Grammy consideration, and his work has placed music on ESPN, OWN, and Les Mills International. His production credits include multiple NZ Top 10 charting singles and albums. He is also longtime musical director for Hrishi, with whom he has toured the United States twice. JAKE STOKES

Jake Stokes is a Prague based music producer and mixer, who has worked with NZ and international artists (The Lost Boys, ALL I SEEK, Holloway, Raego) to create rich and detailed recordings which have been featured in the NZ Top 10 charts and have collected millions of streams. With an extensive background as a musician and session guitarist, he approaches music production from the perspective of an artist, bridging the gap between musician and engineer, and capturing each artist's musical intention. THE GIVEAWAY

  • Up to 24 hours combined production and mixing time (3 x 8-hour sessions)

  • Guidance on releasing the song for maximum impact

HOW TO ENTER

  1. Like and share the competition post on Instagram and tag a musician friend in the comments

  2. Submit the form at the bottom of this page. You must include a link to a demo of the song you want to record.

RULES / DISCLOSURES

  1. Entries will be chosen by Jonny Avery based on the song's potential, musical merit, and where he feels he can add the most value. There will likely be many strong entries, if you're not selected, it's not a reflection of your ability and it's not personal. The decision is final and non-negotiable.

  2. Entries close 5pm, 21st August.

  3. Entries are open nationwide. The winner will need to be able to attend an in-person studio session.

  4. The prize covers up to 24 hours of combined production and mixing time, split across three 8-hour sessions. Additional hours required beyond this will be charged at the standard rate, by agreement.

  5. Sessions must take place before November, on weekdays.

  6. Artists of any genre can enter.

  7. Solo artists without a full band are welcome to apply.

  8. Only one submission per artist. An individual in multiple projects may enter with each one.

  9. Original songs only, no covers. The artist retains 100% ownership of the song.

  10. The prize cannot be transferred to another artist.

  11. This giveaway can be withdrawn at any time, specifically in the case of inappropriate behaviour or misconduct.

  12. By entering, you consent to Jonny Avery Music Production sharing photos and clips from the recording process on social media.
